Kuehne+Nagel Expands US Healthcare Logistics Network with Temperature-Controlled Cross-Docking Facilities

Kuehne+Nagel announced the expansion of its healthcare logistics network in the United States with the establishment of eight new, temperature-controlled cross-docking facilities. These facilities cater specifically to the needs of the healthcare industry, ensuring optimal storage and transportation of temperature-sensitive medicines, vaccines, medical devices, and diagnostic kits.

The new cross-docking solution streamlines supply chains within the healthcare sector, prioritizing both sustainability and cost-effectiveness. This approach aligns with the industry's growing demand for efficient and environmentally conscious logistics while maintaining precise temperature control and timely deliveries – factors crucial for the integrity of healthcare products.

The core concept of Kuehne+Nagel's cross-docking solution involves loading and unloading temperature-controlled containers directly at GxP-compliant warehouses strategically located near ocean ports. This efficient process facilitates the swift return of empty containers to the port, minimizing container usage and potential detention charges associated with delayed returns.

Within these temperature-controlled warehouses, products are meticulously sorted and optimized for final destination delivery via road transportation. Kuehne+Nagel's expanded network encompasses facilities in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Atlanta, Georgia; Wilmington, North Carolina; and Los Angeles, California, with an additional four locations slated to open across the country throughout 2024.

All facilities boast the ability to maintain various temperature ranges and adhere to Kuehne+Nagel's rigorous HealthChain certification standards. This certification guarantees the implementation of the highest global quality measures for the transportation, handling, and storage of vital healthcare products.
