Rhenus, a leading logistics provider, celebrated the grand opening of its new sustainable warehouse near Lyon, France. The 18,000-square-meter facility, situated in Saint-Quentin Fallavier, was constructed in partnership with AXA and PRD.
The SQF6 warehouse prioritizes environmental responsibility, boasting BREEAM Excellent certification. Designed with respect for local biodiversity and energy efficiency, it caters specifically to the logistics needs of healthcare manufacturers. Among its first clients is the renowned Gattefossé group, a Lyon-based leader in specialty ingredients for health and beauty products.
The warehouse offers three distinct temperature-controlled storage units: ambient, a moderate temperature zone, and a cold room. Sustainability is at the core of the facility's design. It utilizes a low-energy heating system that combines geothermal energy, photovoltaic panels, and artificial intelligence-powered building management systems. These advancements aim to significantly reduce carbon emissions and overall energy consumption.
Rhenus adopted a responsible approach throughout construction, minimizing environmental impact and implementing waste management strategies. Measures were also taken to control water and energy use and preserve the site's biodiversity.
Gattefossé serves as the SQF6 warehouse's inaugural client. The facility now houses all products from their nearby Saint-Priest plant, along with their trading products. Rhenus teams manage order preparation, ensuring pallets reach over 65 countries worldwide under controlled temperature conditions.
