MSC Air Cargo Launches First Direct Flight from Malpensa to Tokyo

MSC Air Cargo, the air cargo division of the MSC Group, launched its first direct flight from Malpensa Airport to Tokyo, Japan on October 7, 2023. The weekly service operates every Friday, with a departure from Malpensa at 3:55 PM and an arrival in Tokyo at 3:00 PM (local time). The aircraft has a maximum payload capacity of up to 100 tonnes and will primarily focus on exporting high-value Italian products, such as luxury fashion and accessories, to the Far East markets.

The launch of the new service was celebrated at a presentation at Malpensa Airport, which was attended by over 35 local businesses and representatives from airport authorities.

"We are delighted to have launched this new direct flight to Tokyo, which will provide our customers with a more efficient and reliable way to export their products to Japan," said Jannie Davel, Senior Vice President of MSC Air Cargo. "We are committed to supporting the Italian economy and are confident that this new service will help to boost trade between Italy and Japan."

Francesco Raschi, Cargo and Real Estate Director of SEA Aeroporti di Milano, the operator of Malpensa Airport, added: "We are pleased to welcome MSC Air Cargo to Malpensa and are delighted to have seen their first plane take off from here. We hope that this event marks the beginning of a significant development program at Malpensa, where all the major industry players are already present, working to support the development of the entire region."

The launch of the new service is a positive development for both the Italian economy and Malpensa Airport. It will provide businesses with a more efficient way to export their products to Japan and help to boost trade between the two countries. It is also a sign of Malpensa Airport's growing importance as a major air cargo hub.
