Wan Hai Lines Plants Over 3,000 Trees in Zhuangwei, Yilan

Wan Hai Lines organized a tree-planting event in Zhuangwei, Yilan on October 26, 2023. The event was held in collaboration with the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency's Yilan Division, various ESG partners, and 16 social welfare organizations collaborating with the Wan Hai Charity Foundation.

Over 100 Wan Hai employees and volunteers participated in the event, planting over 3,000 trees of various species, including Sea Lemon, Susanna's Horn, Conocarpus, Hibiscus tiliaceus, Pongamia pinnata, and Melaleuca alternifolia. The tree-planting initiative is part of Wan Hai's long-term commitment to tree planting and afforestation in Taiwan, with a goal of planting over 600,000 trees throughout the country.

The tree-planting event in Zhuangwei is expected to have a number of benefits, including preventing sand drift, protecting cultivated land behind the forest, contributing to the overall national territory's integrity, and providing a place for tourism and recreation. The event also aims to raise awareness of the importance of environmental protection and to expand Wan Hai's sustainable influence.

"We are committed to practicing ESG sustainable operations and adhering to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity and various Sustainable Development Goals," said Chen Po-Ting, Chairman of Wan Hai Lines. "Through this tree-planting event, we hope to mitigate climate change, preserve biodiversity, and promote the sustainable utilization of Earth's resources."

Wan Hai's tree-planting initiative in Zhuangwei is a commendable example of how businesses can play a role in protecting the environment and promoting sustainability. By partnering with various stakeholders and planting trees that are native to Taiwan, Wan Hai is helping to create a more sustainable future for the country and the world.
