Air Cargo Africa 2017 brings together an outstanding range of speakers

Johannesburg, October 14, 2016: :The fourth edition of the International Conference & Expo, AIR CARGO AFRICA, scheduled to take place at Johannesburg in February next year will witness big names from the world’s leading aviation companies expand upon the event’s theme – ‘Airfreight in Africa-Building tomorrow’s market today’.

The conference programme is already attracting industry stalwarts as speakers including Glyn Hughes, Global Head of Cargo, IATA; Michael Steen, Executive VP and Chief Commercial Officer, Atlas Air Worldwide; Nils Pries Knudsen, Head of Global Cargo, Swissport International; Rainer Muller, Vice President-Commercial, Saudia Cargo; Oliver Evans, Head, Global Business Development, Matternet; Sanjeev Gadhia, Founder & CEO, Astral Aviation; Conrad Archer, Country Manager Director, Panalpina Airflow, Kenya; Ulrich Ogiermann, Chief Officer Cargo, Qatar Airways; Peter Musola, AG. General Manager – Cargo, Kenya Airways; Joscha Kremers, Officer-in-charge, United Nations; Meshack Kipturgo, Managing Director, Siginon Aviation; Bongiwe Pityi, General Manager, O.R. Tambo International Airport among others.

Alongside this, representatives from high yield shippers/exporters are also set to take the stage at the Air Shippers’ Forum.

Five months to the show, the floor space has been filling up fast and is currently 90% sold out. This speaks volumes about the growing interest by the world air cargo industry in this event over the years. The event aims to forge a crucial dialogue among the air cargo industry’s leading stakeholders on Africa’s potential as a focal point for air freight.

AIR CARGO AFRICA, organised by The STAT Trade Times, is an international biennial exhibition cum conference conceptualised to showcase Africa's air cargo potential on a global scale. In its past three editions — inaugural edition at Nairobi in 2011, the last two editions at Johannesburg in 2013 and 2015 — the event had attracted significant participation from major airlines, airports, agents and freight forwarders, particularly from Africa.

The last event in 2015 witnessed a whopping 413 key decision makers from global air cargo industry participating as delegates, with 2865 visitors coming from 51 countries of which 27 countries from Africa alone. Apart from these, 77 companies, representing airlines, airports, freight forwarders, ground handlers, technology solution providers, exhibited their products and services. The event garnered great support from the City of Ekurhuleni, which is home to O.R. Tambo International Airport, the busiest airport in Africa.

In its fourth edition, the show is back in Johannesburg in South Africa and will be held at The Emperor’s Palace. The event has already seen significant participation from key players of the air cargo industry from African countries and from the rest of the world.
