TNT sets standard for air and road transport security

Wins a string of TAPA awards
Fredric Hultman appointed as new head of regional security

Malaysia, November 2010 – TNT, one of the world’s leading express integrators, swept seven awards at yesterday’s TAPA Asia Security Conference in Singapore, including the coveted Supply Chain Industry TSR and FSR award. These awards underscore TNT’s long-standing commitment to maintaining the highest level of security on its extensive air and road network.

TNT was singled out for its excellence in security standards, going over and beyond TAPA’s truck and freight security requirements on its award-winning Asia Road Network (ARN), air network and facilities across the region. Earlier this year, TNT was the first in the industry to implement the Level One TAPA TSR standard and requirements for its ARN operations between Singapore and Thailand. The Level One standard demands 100% compliance in meeting TAPA’s stringent security measures. Coupled with its TAPA FSR certification, TNT is now the first globally to operate a complete, integrated TAPA-certified logistics network.

Onno Boots, Regional Managing Director, TNT Southeast Asia and India said, “At TNT, we take a very serious stance towards security. As an express integrator, we want to ensure that the integrity of our customers’ goods is preserved from point of origin to destination. We constantly look ahead of the game to anticipate the needs of our customers and pro-actively cooperate with industry partners and governmental authorities on supply chain security. We are delighted to receive such a brace of awards. It is a clear indication that we are leading in the field of integrated security solutions.”

TNT has long been at the forefront of secure air and road transportation globally. Even prior to mandatory regulations, TNT implemented 100 per cent screening for all cargo on its road and air network. In 2009, TNT was also the first express integrator to be awarded the ISO 28000 certification for its integrated operational road and air solutions, including the ARN, cross border customs security and clearance processes. It also encompasses TNT’s tailor-made security solutions for its customers, which includes a risk based assessment of the customers business within the supply chain.

Coinciding with its latest awards win, TNT also announced the appointment of its new regional head of security, Fredric Hultman. An industry veteran, Hultman has more than 20 years in the law enforcement and security field. His experience includes overseeing the security operations of another major express delivery company, and a global telecommunications business. The highlight of his career includes designing, implementing and overseeing the security systems in several emerging markets, which dramatically reduced supply chain losses in a short time span. In his current position at TNT, he will be responsible for the security of the operations across Southeast Asia and India.
