The winners of the prestigious 2006 UK Mail Awards were announced on Tuesday evening at a packed ceremony in London.
With eight categories to be awarded and representatives of sponsors as well as shortlisted companies in attendance, there was a keen sense of anticipation amongst the sell-out audience. 300 senior mail industry executives attended the annual Gala Dinner in the Champagne Suite of the Novotel London West, where BBC Business broadcaster Declan Curry entertained those present with a brief but comical talk before announcing the winners.

All awards were selected by a distinguished panel of judges, independent of the sponsors and organisers, who met on Monday, the day before the ceremony itself, to determine the winning application from the many entries received in each category.
