Hellmann Worldwide Logistics Invests in New Security Systems

Hellmann Worldwide Logistics UK has begun a three-year investment programme that will see the leading global logistics specialist invest almost a quarter of a million pounds on high-tech security equipment and monitoring facilities. The investment encompasses comprehensive upgrades at Hellmann’s Lichfield, Colnbrook and Tamworth depots, with plans already underway to extend the investment to include Hellmann’s seven other UK depots.

Ruediger Walter, national facilities manager at Hellmann commented: “Security has always been of paramount importance for Hellmann, and this latest investment forms a key part of our ongoing upgrade programme, designed to ensure we remain at the very forefront of the industry in terms of security technology.”

“We have installed a completely new CCTV system at all three depots involved, and there has been particular investment at Colnbrook, where we have also installed state-of-the-art access controls at all entrances and exits.”

Hellmann operates a broad range of logistics solutions, incorporating airfreight, seafreight and road haulage services. Working within a range of high-value sectors, from fashion to electronics, the company’s security systems are subject to a constant programme of renewal and evolution.

The new CCTV network is to be monitored twenty-four hours a day at Hellmann’s security hub based at Fradley Park in Lichfield. Improved access technology at Colnbrook includes new swipe-cards for all Hellmann employees, allowing only very limited admittance to high-security areas.

“We now have a central CCTV hub at Fradley Park, which monitors all three sites on a constant basis.” Explained Mr. Walter, “At Colnbrook, swipe-cards are now used to lower blockage ramps at the entrance and exit gates, whilst remote controls from secure areas in the building allow access for visitors via an intercom system.”

Hellmann Worldwide Logistics currently employs over 15,000 people worldwide, and operates from 341 cities across 141 countries. The company’s UK operation boasts 10 individual offices throughout the country, including corporate headquarters in Lichfield, Staffordshire.

Martin Meyer, managing director at Hellmann Worldwide Logistics UK commented:

“The integrity of our clients’ consignments is pivotal to our operation at Hellmann, and this latest investment will help us to remain at the forefront of the industry in terms of our security systems.”

“In addition to this financial investment in technology,” he added, “We are investing time and a strong management focus on security across our network, from Glasgow to Heathrow, ensuring the highest standards throughout our operation.”
