NYK Logistics (UK) has announced the extension of its UK distribution agreement with electrical appliance manufacturer Beko.
Beko plc is a subsidiary of a large multinational group which is said to be one of the top 500 largest companies in the world and also one of the top 10 home appliances manufacturers in Europe, with over 40 years experience in the manufacture of home appliances and televisions.
NYK stated that in the UK, Beko had become one of the fastest growing household appliance brands, offering an extensive product range including refrigeration, laundry, dishwashers and LCD and CRT TVs. "Product is shipped from Beko's manufacturing facilities in Turkey into the company's 550,000 sq ft facilities in the West Midlands, managed by Beko itself."
Initially appointed in 2003, NYK is responsible for the delivery of Beko's range of brown and white goods to multiple and independent electrical retailers throughout the UK using a fleet of 12 articulated and four rigid vehicles.
"With in excess of 500 SKUs, the Beko operation despatches an average 60,000 units per month to customers including Argos, Comet, Dixons and Littlewoods. This is in addition to direct deliveries which account for the majority of sales," stated NYK. "To accommodate periods of peak demand, NYK's network fleet also provides additional flexibility and capacity as required."
As part of its commitment to continuous improvement, added NYK, it would be introducing advanced vehicle tracking systems and digipen technology to provide real-time POD information.
