Three hundred ferry operators, owners and builders from 26 countries will gather at the Westin Long Beach Hotel in Long Beach, California, October 3-6 for the Interferry 31st Annual Conference “Partnering for Profit.” The forum features panelists and speakers on such hot topics as “Tourism and Ferry Operations: Challenges and Solutions,” “Security at Ferry Terminals,” and ”Operating in Challenging Times.”
Greg Bombard, president of Catalina Express and association president of Interferry, whose company is celebrating its 25th Anniversary, will open the conference with a welcome address at 8:30 am. The program that follows is aimed at galvanizing the transportation industry, which is wrestling with such critical issues as new regulatory and business pressures.
In a recent statement, Interferry’s CEO Len Roueche summarizes the conference’s intent in mitigating some of those challenges:
“We aim to show how ferry operators and their suppliers can prosper in an era of rising oil prices, intense competition and ever-increasing legislation on safety, security and the environment.”
