Leading European supply chain provider, Wincanton, has secured a 10 year contract to manage the warehousing and primary transportation for some of Carlsberg UK’s distributed range. The operation will offer the Danish brewery synergies with Wincanton’s expanding drinks business and reductions in their lead times by utilising a collaborative approach to its supply chain.
The contract will see Wincanton pick and check around 1 million cases of Carlsberg’s wines, spirits and third party beers at its shared user warehouse in Billingham, Teeside. Once checked, the product is dispatched on the same day to four of Carlsberg’s regional distribution centres. This initiative is part of a wider initiative by Carlsberg and the Billingham depot, and along with the Gravelly Park Depot, gives the ability to offer Carlsberg customers a ‘Next Day’ delivery service through its UK Nationwide secondary depot network.
