Press Release

In addition to the nine sites that Wincanton currently manages for them, Somerfield has confirmed its intention, under the new contract, to transfer the transport operation at Lea Green and the warehouse operations at Cardinal and Huntingdon to Wincanton from their existing third party supplier. As a result, around 1500 employees will transfer to Wincanton under the Transfer of Undertakings regulations (TUPE).

Martin Oakes, Supply Chain Director of Somerfield commented:

"We're pleased to announce this contract, which will build on our existing relationship with Wincanton. We are particularly impressed with Wincanton's understanding of and commitment to our business. This relationship further demonstrates our commitment to providing our customers with fresh quality foods."

Graeme McFaull Chief Executive of Wincanton added:

"This prestigious win not only consolidates our leading position in the UK market but also reinforces our strong and long established relationship with Somerfield. We are committed to achieving operational excellence for them, and all our clients, on a daily basis across all our operations."
