Roadway, a subsidiary of YRC Worldwide Inc. (NASDAQ: YRCW), is proud to announce that Roadway driver Randy DeVault has been named national champion in the straight truck class at the 2006 National Truck Driving Championships held August 15-19 in New Orleans, LA. Jesse Holt, a linehaul driver from Chattanooga, TN, captured second place in the flatbed class.
A Roadway employee for 17 years, DeVault is a driver account specialist at the Roadway service center in Augusta, ME. He has been a state competitor since 1990 and has competed in the national event nine times. In addition, DeVault is a certified trainer in the safe handling of hazardous materials and the nationally recognized Smith System® for defensive driving techniques. DeVault, who has driven over one million accident-free miles, is coordinator of his district's Road Team, a group of Roadway employees who present safety messages to the media, community organizations and schools.

To compete in the national competition, each driver achieved first-place honors in state-level truck driving championships. The competitions include challenging driving skills, maneuvering tests, pretrip inspections and a written examination covering vehicle operation and federal safety regulations. The Roadway state champions represent the best of the best, including 19 previous winners and three grand champions.
