Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE, has announced that it will launch a three-times-a-week service between Abu Dhabi and the Iranian capital, Tehran, on Saturday 3 December.
The new route will be operated with one of Etihad’s brand new purpose-built Boeing 777-300ER aircraft which is configured to carry a payload of 20 tonnes at full passenger load.
“There is a strong tradition of the Iranian people living and working in the UAE. Etihad’s new service will offer convenient services between the two capitals for business, leisure travellers and cargo customers alike,” said Ingo Roessler, Vice President Cargo, Etihad Airways.
The Iranian population living in the UAE is growing at a rapid pace with 6,500 Iranian companies operating in the country.
The Sun Group has been appointed the General Sales and Services Agent (GSSA) for Etihad Crystal Cargo, which involves managing cargo sales and services across Iran.
“With Sun Group’s appointment we are adding another link to our strong network of world-wide sales partners who have been key to the success of Crystal Cargo’s continued growth,” added Ingo.
Founded in 1997, the Sun Group offers a comprehensive range of services including cargo sales, warehousing and airport handling.

Outbound flight EY731 will depart from Abu Dhabi International Airport every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 01:55 arriving in Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport at 03:25.
The return flight, EY 732, will depart at 04:55, arriving in Abu Dhabi at 07:25.
