Kuehne + Nagel has strengthened its logistics presence on the U.S.-Mexico border, moving to a state-of-the-art distribution center (DC) here.
The new, 20,000-square-foot DC with six dock doors with hydraulic ramps, is in the heart of international trade and freight forwarding activities in the region, three miles from the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge and five miles from McAllen-Miller International Airport. Its strategic location provides quick access to all major maquila parks in Reynosaand the Foreign Trade Zone.
The new facility increases Kuehne + Nagelís logistics space in McAllen by almost 70 percent - necessary to accommodate strong growth in customer demand for integrated logistics services in the region. Importantly, customers leveraging Kuehne + Nagelís McAllen DC can reach 80 percent of U.S.and Mexican markets within 48 hours.
The McAllen branch, established in 2004, covers the southern Rio Grande Valley, including Harlingen, Brownsville, Pharr and the McAllen metropolitan area. The branchís services include domestic and international forwarding (sea, air and overland), insurance and customs brokerage, as well as warehousing and distribution.
One focus of the local branch is support of the growing high-tech and automotive maquila industries, designing logistics solutions to help lower costs and improve lead times.
