ADS Logistics, LLC and the Port of Shreveport-Bossier are equipped to provide unmatched logistics and supply chain services to the region's growing primary steel industry.
ADS Logistics, LLC (ADS), the leading North American provider of integrated logistics and supply chain services to the metals industry, announced today they have commenced operations in the newly constructed Class-1 metals facility located within the Port of Shreveport-Bossier. The facility, built by the Port with ADS' metals warehousing expertise, is the only Class-1 storage and warehousing facility within a 200 mile radius of Shreveport and links customers throughout the Ark-La-Tex region to domestic and international markets.
The 60,000 square foot heat and humidity controlled facility is operated by ADS' Roll & Hold division. The facility is rail served by the Union Pacific Railroad. The Port's marine, rail and truck infrastructure and equipment provide for high volume rail activity as well as all bulk modal combinations of barge, rail and truck, with 2,000 acres of property (which enables outdoor storage of appropriate commodities), ten miles of on-site track, barge capacity for 25+ units at a time, and excellent truck access adjacent to the I-20/I-49 intersection.
"ADS is delighted with the opening of this new facility and looks forward to serving the region's industrial base," said Rich Doyle, Director of Marketing and Sales for ADS Logistics. "ADS, working with the Port has identified a significant and growing need in the region for efficient multi-commodity logistics services, including warehousing and distribution, transload operations, truck transportation, and sophisticated information systems. Together, ADS and the Port are equipped to provide an unmatched variety of transportation and distribution operations."
ADS has provided integrated logistics and supply chain technology services in Shreveport since 2003 and has worked with the Port since early 2005. "We are extremely pleased to have ADS located within the Port facility. This is a true example of how Companies partnering with the Port can grow their businesses", stated Lynn Austin, President of The Caddo-Bossier Port Commission. In addition to warehousing and distribution, ADS has provided local customers with transportation management services through ADS' Area Transportation division (AREA), and inventory management services vis-a-vis web access to ADS' supply chain management technology solution, LoMaS(R).
"The demand for steel in the region continues to grow and with that comes the need for technology solutions that simplify the inventory management process," explained Gordy Gustafson, chief commercial officer and vice president of ADS' Integrated Solutions Group. "LoMaS(R) provides ADS customers at the Port with complete visibility to their product via the web. Customers utilizing LoMaS(R) know exactly what material is on-hand at the ADS facility as well as what products are enroute and their expected time-of-arrival. An inventory position report provides the entire picture of on-hand material plus product detail for enroute material including ETA information at one, two or X number of days out."
