SIMSme Business now available for Android phones

The new features of the Deutsche Post instant messenger simplifies mobile collaboration at companies

Until recently, SIMSme Business, the company version of the Deutsche Post instant messenger, was available for use only on iPhones. Now it is also compatible with the Android operating system, giving an even larger target group the option of secure communications within a company. Not only that, Deutsche Post SIMSme Business has been equipped with new applications to further improve employee collaboration via mobile messaging.

Employees can use SIMSme Business to comment directly on individual messages such as presentations, images or videos. Appointment or deadline reminders and other critical messages can be marked as “important” and will then be visually highlighted in the chat history and Push notifications. Upon request SIMSme Business also includes a function that makes sure that colleagues’ contact data is on hand at any time. The address book lets you find users that have the same e-mail suffix, making it no longer necessary to save colleagues’ cell numbers in your phone book.

Of course SIMSme Business also includes all of the features of the SIMSme Messenger, first and foremost being certified end-to-end encryption, compliant with the technical guidelines of the German Federal Office for Information Security and subject to regular external audits, for the secure exchange of data. That makes SIMSme suitable even for use at companies with infrastructures and business processes highly relevant to security.

Marco Hauprich, Senior Vice President of Digital Labs at Deutsche Post, had this to say about the new messenger: “Secure communications are a major issue particularly in the business world. With the launch of SIMSme Business for Android phones, we are giving the whole market new options for simple and secure exchanges in a business context.”

The use of instant messages is increasingly outpacing e-mail. According to the digital association Bitkom, young people in Germany alone use messaging ten times more frequently than they do e-mails. That means that a way of communicating that has become a part of daily life in private groups or individual chats is making its way into a growing number of companies and institutions. According to a study conducted by Adobe, 75 percent of German companies use apps in a company context – with improved communications a deciding factor. Companies, however, have greater security needs than private users.

For the launch of the Android version, Deutsche Post is giving interested companies the opportunity to test the product free of charge and see for themselves. The complete app can be used at no cost for 30 days by entering the license code SIMS-MEBI-ZAND-ROID.
