“Freightcamp” 2016 delivers benefits to two networks

New-style conference brings Pangea and Connecta members together for the first time

This years Pangea Logistics Network annual conference was extended to include members of sister network Connecta Airfreight Network, for the first time. Under its new Freightcamp identity, the unique event resulted in inter-network collaboration that is already producing new business.

Freightcamp 2016 was attended by over 120 representatives of the two networks freight forwarder members, now collectively known as Pangea Group. The 2016 event took place in Abu Dhabi; previous conferences have been held in Barcelona (2012), Bangkok (2013), Kuala Lumpur (2014) and Barcelona (2015).

The 3-day Freightcamp programme included over 1500 one-to-one, 30-minute meetings between members, to discuss and further collaboration opportunities. All meetings were arranged through an automated online meeting scheduler, and supported by additional networking events.

A major focus of Freightcamp 2016 was technological challenges facing the freight industry. Pangea Group showcased its new strategic partnership agreement with CHAMP Forwarding Systems, which gives Pangea and Connecta members access to CHAMPs web-based freight forwarding system, Logitude. This enables members to manage quotes, shipments, bookings and consolidations more efficiently and cost-effectively, without major financial outlay. Logitude also supports the IATA
e-AWB and e-freight initiatives, facilitating electronic data interchange with some 100 airlines.

Freightcamp also saw the roll-out of IMC (Internal Messages Centre), which provides secure and efficient messaging and communication between members, using self-created conversation group rooms with powerful invitation, sharing and collaboration tools.

During Freightcamp 2016, members received awards for Most Active Partner (F.J. Tytherleigh Logistics, Australia; Rapid Freight & Logistics Systems, Kuwait; and Transvalair, UK), Best Service Partner (In Time Wholesale Express, UK) and Partner of the Year (Blue Freight Service, Germany). The awards were based on the winners business contributions, as well as the nominations of their fellow members.

Says Pangea/Connecta Network Manager Sarah Bidmead: For the first time, Freightcamp gave members the opportunity to connect not just within their own network, but across the two networks. A survey of delegates found that 86% felt combining the two organisations in a single event had been beneficial.
