Frankfurt Airport to host Air Shippers’ Forum on automotive cargo

AIR CARGO AFRICA 2017, the global biennial trade exhibition and conference of the air cargo industry in Africa, is pleased to announce Frankfurt Airport as a sponsor for the Air Shippers’ Forum on automotive cargo. The session will be held on Day 2 of the three day event from February 21-23 at Emperors Palace, Johannesburg.

This will be one of the four commodity specific logistics conferences that the fourth edition of Air Cargo Africa is rolling out this year. With this new initiative, the forum aims to bring in stakeholders from across the logistics value chain to share and learn the best practices on transport and logistics for specific commodities.

The automotive sector has always relied on air freight for its just-in-deliveries and lean inventory strategy. But the current trends in vehicle manufacturing hold a mixed and constantly changing impact on the industry demand for air cargo services. This provides ongoing new business opportunities for international airlines, air freight forwarders and air express operators in a market that includes the movement of components for production lines, after-market spare parts and, on occasions, complete new cars.

The session on automotive cargo will take a holistic approach where carmakers, original equipment manufacturers, logistics providers, infrastructure operators, as well as airlines and airports will join to debate the strategies best suited to tomorrow’s global supply chain scene.

Commenting on the Frankfurt Airport’s decision to sponsor the Air Shippers’ Forum, Dirk Schusdziara, SVP Cargo Fraport AG, said, “After our successful Shippers’ Day during the recent Air Cargo India conference and exhibition in Mumbai, we now would like to follow up with the automotive industry in Johannesburg, jointly discuss challenges of the air freight supply chain in more detail and look for innovative ways to ease the journey of cargo from Africa to Frankfurt, Germany, Europe and the USA”.

This session offers the airport with an opportunity not only to enhance its visibility but also an opportunity to network with the leading players in the air freight industry and further cement its position as a very important strategic destination in the worldwide route network in the air freight industry.

Attendance at Air Shippers Forum for Automotive Cargo is free to the shippers, but there are limited seats. To reserve your place or to find more details about the forum or AIR CARGO AFRICA 2017, please visit
