Fraport AG - the manager of the Frankfurt Airport global hub - is proud to be hosting this year's "Air Shippers' Forum" during the upcoming "Air Cargo India" conference and exhibition from February 23-25 in Mumbai.
As Europe's leading cargo hub and one of the top 10 worldwide, FRA has an annual cargo throughput of more than 2 million metric tons. Frankfurt Airport's global network features more than 170 airlines (passenger and all-cargo airlines) serving 400 destinations in nearly 120 countries. For example, it is the fourth-largest producer of automobiles worldwide with an annual turnover of €370 billion. Furthermore, it is a major location for the pharma and biotech industries - as well as a leading hub for IT and telecommunications. Frankfurt Airport serves as a strategic gateway and logistics cluster for all international shippers doing business in Germany and surrounding countries.
The rapid growth of international trade has created a global village where air transport assumes great importance in the transportation of goods. This is especially true of high yield items and perishable goods. The purchasing power, the change in purchasing behavior, the consumption pattern, change in inventory carrying, all these have undergone a vast change over a period of time which has enhanced the importance of the Air Cargo Industry.
Air freight accounts for 35 percent by value of the goods transported worldwide and has acquired great importance in recent times because of rapid growth in international trade so much so that it has a direct bearing on the country's economic health.
In any logistics supply chain, the shippers form the main link without which the supply chain itself will not exist. It has been a long felt need that there should be a forum for the shippers to voice their opinion on issues directly affecting them. Realizing this importance AIR CARGO INDIA 2016, the 6th edition of the International Biennial Air Cargo event organized by STAT Times would give special forum to provide an opportunity for the interaction between the different constituents in the supply chain mainly, the SHIPPERS. The forum would be attended by other links in the supply chain like freight forwarders, regulators, airlines, IT professionals to facilitate serious exchange of ideas among the different constituents.
