Project Cargo Network Approves 140th Member

Project Cargo Network (PCN) www.projectcargonetwork.com has announced that it has approved the application of its 140th Member. This marks a fantastic growth rate for the organisation since its formation in August 2010.

Project Cargo Network (PCN) www.projectcargonetwork.com has announced that it has approved the application of its 140th Member. This marks a fantastic growth rate for the organisation since its formation in August 2010.

Today, PCN has an international presence that extends to over 400 worldwide offices in 73 countries with 5,786 staff members handling over 29,885 shipments per month. With collective Annual Revenues of USD 1.784 Billion, PCN is now larger than many multi-national companies.

The strong growth of PCN could be atrributed to the current world trend for green energy and the substantial investment in clean energy technology which is providing a rapid increase in business opportunities for project cargo specialists who have the required capabilities in the supply chain management of oversize plant and equipment.

This month, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP www.unep.org) announced that total investment in renewable power and fuels last year increased by 17% to a record $257 billion. Renewable energy technologies continue to expand into new markets: around 50 countries have installed wind power capacity, and solar PV capacity is moving rapidly into new regions and countries.

PCN Memberís projects also come from several other sectors including oil and gas, pulp and paper, automotive, construction and aid cargo.

The ISO 9001:2008 certified organisation has also revealed that it benefits from a 100% membership renewal rate and that the 1st PCN Annual Meeting, held in London in November 2010, was attended by over 85 CEOís and Senior Manager from around the world. At the time, this was over 80% of their membership Ė which illustrates the strong commitment of Memberís at the early stage of the organisation's life.

This commitment is paying off as the PCN Head Office reports that inter-trade is developing rapidly and the news section of their website (see www.heavyliftnews.org) is packed with case studies of high profile and specialist shipments carried out by PCN members.

To celebrate this exciting time at PCN and with the tremendous growth in the use of smartphones and tablets, the PCN Head Office recently researched the latest mobile technology in order to launch a new smartphone tool which enables Members to access the most useful information in the PCN databases on their mobile devices, 24/7. The tool is available on ipads, iphones, androids, and blackberry's.

Here are some comments from PCN Members:

"Being a part of PCN is of great importance in our group, as it leaves us with an opportunity to work with specialized teams around the world. Companies that are project-specialized is not easy to find, but being a member of PCN the global knowledge is just a click away. Moreover the entire organization surrounding PCN is world class professionals. We truly appreciate our membership of PCN in Denmark, Lithuania and Poland." Paw Kristensen, CEO, 3pl Group

"Before joining PCN, I was a bit disappointed with international networks, many focus on registering as many members as possible and you end up having 1000s of agents with whom you lose the personal touch. Since personal and innovative service are our company values, being part of PCN offers a very familiar environment with a truly global reach of reliable agents and after attending the 1st Annual Summit, we further strengthened relationships with our PCN partners." Alejandro Castillo Maldonado, CEO, Casmal Cargo & Projects, Mexico

"Since Hacklin Logistics joined PCN, we feel very confident that we have found a unique platform with project experts around the globe who understand the competitive environment we all work in. Most importantly, PCN Members respect that results will be achieved by working long term and with dedicated people with similar objectives. The PCN network enables true project cargo specialists to connect and find fruitful business opportunities." Marianne Blechingberg, Director, Oy Hacklin Logistics, Finland

"Wilhelmsen Ships Service is proud to have joined PCN. Being a year-long member of several other networks with various degrees of success, we can testify that any network is only as good as its management and members. The ongoing screening process of every member performed by Rachel Humphrey and her team, and the clear cut objective of the network to grow overall business for every member through active participation makes PCN stand out. PCN is still a young network making it dynamic; the combined experience, the project focus, and global reach makes it very strong." Flemming Andersen, Middle East Area Logistics Manager, Wilhelmsen Ship Services
