ASIAN LOGISTICS PLAYERS RISING TO THE CHALLENGE

Logistics Megatrends Forum Bangkok 2006 - Building an Asian based community to deliberate on logistics challenges in Asia.

Bangkok, Thailand — From 28-29 March 2006, in Bangkok, Thailand, a group of up to 300 leading Asian logistics and supply chain professionals will gather together to share trends and developments of logistics and supply chain management in the highly complex and dynamic industry in Asia. Featuring more than 20 speakers from various nationalities, Logistics Megatrends Forum Bangkok 2006 is organized and hosted by Supply Chain Asia, an Asian-based community founded to bring logistics professionals in Asia together.

Some of the key speakers featured in the forum include 2003 FTB Asia Logistics Award Hall of Fame winner Dr Robert Yap, Chairman and CEO of YCH Group of Singapore, Mr Mirzan bin Mahathir, Executive Chairman and President of Konsortium Logistik of Malaysia, Mr Chris Munro, Chief Executive Officer of Linfox Logistics of Australia, Mr Essa Al Saleh, Managing Director, Corporate Development of PWC Logistics of Kuwait, A/P Mark Goh, Director of The Logistics Institute Asia Pacific in Singapore and Mr Benjamin Gordon, Managing Director of BG Strategic Advisors, a leading specialist in Mergers and Acquisitions in the Logistics industry.

Paul Lim, Founder and President of Supply Chain Asia said, “Logistics in Asia is highly fragmented, which in turns add to the complexity of its development here. Many of the activities and communities founded here are too country-centric, leading to a much disintegrated community.

Supply Chain Asia, through the Logistics Megatrends Forum is focused on bringing people from all over Asia together – to Network, Make Friends and Learn from each other. Besides introducing a forum-style conference to make it more interesting than listening to a one-speaker platform, Logistics Megatrends Forum is an Asian-based event, aimed at promoting the developments here and protecting the interest of Asian players.

Moving away from a conventional conference style, Logistics Megatrends Forum is introducing a WEF-styled (World Economic Forum) conference session that features 2 or more speakers per session to facilitate more in-depth, no holds barred discussion. Besides featuring a distinctive THOUGHT LEADERS session to deliberate on the trends and developments of logistics in Asia, the Forum will discuss on topics such as “Does Size Matter?”, “Regulatory Changes and Its Impact on Logistics Development in Asia” and “RFID – The Best Thing Since the Creation of Bar-Code” and “Supply Chain Innovation : Importance of Technology as a Catalyst”.

“As the global logistics marketplace continues to consolidate, Logistics Megatrends Forum will be an important platform for exploring the future of Asian logistics players”, said Benjamin Gordon, who is also the Forum Chairman. Benjamin is Managing Director of BG Strategic Advisors, and specializes in Mergers and Acquisitions in the Logistics and Supply Chain industry. His company was responsible for PWC Logistics’ acquisitions of TransLink, TransOceanic, and GeoLogistics last year, and worked on 12 major logistics deals in the past year.

The event is supported and endorsed by logistics organizations such as China Supply Chain Council (CSCC), the Singapore Logistics Association (SLA), the Indonesia Logistics Association (ALI) and the Asian Council of Logistics Management. Media support includes Transport Weekly, Logistics Digest (Thailand), ZDNet Asia, Lloyd’s Freight Transport Buyer Asia and Freightnet.com.

Thai Airways is the Official Airline of the event, and Thailand Elite is the Official Thai Host.
