Air freight and planning issues on the agenda at FTA International Supply Chain Forum

Air freight issues and UK planning policy reforms will be the main focus of the next meeting of the Freight Transport Associationís International Supply Chain Forum in April.

The first part of the meeting will consist of a special session on air freight matters. The Department for Transport will make a presentation on the first stage of its review of aviation policy, and a discussion will be held on the recent announcement in the Budget regarding aviation taxation.

FTA will also report on the work of the new Global Air Cargo Advisory Group which incorporates the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), the International Air Cargo Association (TIACA), along with the Global Shippers Forum (GSF), which FTA manages. The subject of air freight security will also be addressed.

The second part of the meeting will address pan-supply chain issues, including an update on progress with the decarbonising of the maritime supply chain project. There will also be a major session on the current UK planning reforms, with an FTA briefing on the latest situation and the Associationís campaigning work on this issue, plus a discussion on what action is being taken and what the logistics industry needs to achieve.

The meeting is open to anyone in the UK supply chain on an invitation basis. Attendees can take part in just the section of the meeting that is relevant to them. For further details contact Christopher Snelling on 01892 552245, email csnelling@fta.co.uk
