DHL and Shanghai Lingang Group sign Memorandum of Understanding to develop logistics business in Lingang Industrial Area

· DHL as preferred logistics partner to Shanghai Lingang Group
· Joint effort to offer supply chain solutions and product innovation

Shanghai, 1 November, 2010: DHL Global Forwarding (China) Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of the world’s leading logistics company Deutsche Post DHL, has signed a Partnership Agreement with state-owned enterprise Shanghai Lingang Free Trade Port Economic Development Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of Shanghai Lingang Economic Development (Group) Co., Ltd. The signing event was officiated by Senior Vice Mayor of Shanghai Municipal Government, Yang Xiong.

Under this partnership agreement, DHL and Shanghai Lingang Group will jointly develop supply chain solution and logistics service for customers in the Yangshan Free Trade Port Area and Shanghai Lingang Industrial Area.

Shanghai Senior Vice Mayor Yang Xiong emphasized that the development of Shanghai Lingang Industrial Area is fully supported by the Shanghai Municipal Government, and the logistics partnership between Shanghai Lingang Group and DHL will raise the city’s competitive edge.

“The strategic location and development roadmap for Shanghai Lingang Group is an excellent fit with DHL’s direction of providing integrated services to customers, particularly for fast-growing Chinese companies in developing international business,” said Steve Huang, Chief Executive Officer, DHL Global Forwarding, China.

“We will leverage DHL’s logistics expertise and global capability to help realize our plans of establishing the Shanghai Lingang Industrial Area as a key logistics hub and distribution centre in Asia, combined with a strong industry base. Based on Shanghai Lingang Industrial Area’s industry focus, the partnership will focus on supporting customers from the aerospace and heavy equipment manufacturing sectors. “DHL will partner Shanghai Lingang Group to jointly approach customers to optimize and design their logistics network when importing or exporting out of China key ports,” said Alfred Goh, Senior Vice President, Global Head, Fast Growing Enterprises, DHL.

The Shanghai Lingang Industrial Area is divided into industrial areas, international logistics park and is integrated with the Yangshan Free Trade Port Area. It is next to Shanghai Yangshan Deep Sea Port and is 25km from Shanghai Pudong International Airport. The Area falls under the care of the Shanghai Lingang Group, which oversees its construction, development, investment and ongoing operations.
