New TNT Post rates from 1 January 2011 - Stamp to cost 46 euro cents

Amsterdam, 1 September 2010 – TNT N.V. today announces that new rates for sending mail within the Netherlands and to destinations within Europe will apply at TNT Post per 1 January 2011. The basic domestic-mail rate for the Netherlands will increase by two euro-cents to €0.46; for mail to other European destinations the basic rate will increase to €0.79, also a two cent rise. The rate for mail being sent outside Europe will remain at its present €0.95. This price increase falls within the legal limits for price developments and is lower than the rate of inflation in the period since the start of 2007. With its new rates, TNT Post continues to charge one of the lowest postage rates in Europe.

TNT Post is increasing its rates in consideration of volume and cost developments. The last rate increase was in January 2007, with TNT Post making clear at the time that there would be no further increase until 2010. With the change that is now being announced, TNT Post continues to implement its moderate postage rate policy.

In June this year, TNT Post simplified its postage with the introduction of a new line of stamps that use numbers, instead of value indicators, in combination with the Dutch words for The Netherlands (numbers “1” and “2”), Europe (“1”) and The World (“1”). These non-denominated stamps eliminate the need for using low-value stamps to top up the postage value when rates increase. Postage stamps bearing the value-indicator €0.44 can still be used for domestic mail after the price increase, as long as this is topped up using a two-cent stamp (available at all TNT Post in-store post offices and online through www.tntpost.nl).
