Singapore, 12 August 2010 – Damco, one of the world’s leading 3PLs, has announced the appointment of Goetz von Dresky as its Head of Chemical Logistics in Asia.
In this newly-created regional role, von Dresky will be responsible for product development and expanding Damco’s chemical business in Asia.
Based in Singapore, he reports to Katherine Boesen, Chief Commercial Officer for Damco in Asia Pacific.
“Significant growth in Asia’s chemical sector presents growth opportunities for Damco. Damco has already established a strong presence in the chemical logistics sector in the Middle East and Europe. With our strengths and network in Asia’s emerging markets, we are now ready to expand into the chemical sector here. Given Goetz’s vast experience in chemical logistics and understanding of the Asian markets, I am confident that he will successfully drive Damco’s chemical business in Asia,” said Boesen.
One of the focus areas for von Dresky will be addressing the issue of supply chain visibility, which he says is a key challenge for many chemical companies.
“Our priority has always been our customers – we pride ourselves on being an extended arm of our customers; we understand their supply chain needs and customize solutions to meet their requirements,” said von Dresky. "Damco is positioned uniquely to support the fast-growing petrochemical demand in Asia and especially in emerging markets. Through our cutting edge IT-systems and Damco’s dedication to service delivery, our customers have a winning combination – peace-of-mind based on total supply chain visibility across the globe."
Prior to this appointment, von Dresky served as Head of Commercial for Damco in Singapore and Malaysia. He has been based in Asia since 1998, when he was with Suttons International, a UK-based logistics group, specializing in customized logistics solutions for the chemical industry. As General Manager for its South East Asia operations, von Dresky was responsible for implementing complex and integrated solutions for difficult products such as temperature-controlled hazardous chemicals.
