The ninth-annual international conference will be held in March in Hong Kong.
The ash cloud produced by the Icelandic volcano in April kept all but 37 delegates from attending the 2010 annual conference in Vienna. However, those present found the meeting to be very productive because they had plenty of time to meet with each other and develop closer working relationships.
International Logistic Gateway, with offices in Austria, Hungary and the Czech Republic, was the local sponsor and provided numerous valuable services to the attendees, from invitation letters to tips on enjoyable activities and dining in Vienna. They had also organized a tournament at the leading golf club in Austria, but it regrettably was canceled.
Besides the full complement of one-on-one meetings among the members, the general session included presentations on the ports of Koper (Slovenia) and Hamburg (Germany), the Austrian rail cargo system, and a country presentation on India by Mr. K.P. Singhh of DFX Logistics in New Delhi, India. Mr. Jim Marty, CPA, presented a session on business succession, and the annual shareholders meeting of SecurityPlus Financial Corp. was held. SPFC is the group-owned payment protection program, with each member company owning a share. Marty has been the accountant for the program since its inception eight years ago.
Next year, SCN will meet in early March in Hong Kong, and it is hoped that the elements and conditions will be more favorable such that 200 delegates may be anticipated to be in attendance.
