Technology is now fundamental to all of our lives and particularly the way we communicate.
There can be few other industries, where the significance is so key, than for the Postal industry. Surprisingly, despite employing more than 5 million people and accounting for an average of 2% of GDP as part of the national and global communications infrastructure, most postal authorities have not historically invested heavily in technology.
However, with the advent of privatisation and market liberalisation, postal operators are being forced to respond to the threats and opportunities presented by technology.
And it impacts all aspects from the customer right through to the operation and delivery of the services.
The technology revolution is beginning to take hold.
Triangle Management Services and Saudi Post are together taking the initiative to unite the world's leading postal authorities and top technology organisations in a meeting of minds and understanding.
The world's first global summit, focused on next generation postal technology, will be taking place in November this year, in Saudi Arabia.
Neil Jackson, Chief Executive of Triangle, stated, "PosTech 2007 is the first global conference focusing on the challenges and opportunities presented by technology for the coming years."
This is an opportunity to understand the key challenges for the Postal Industry with some of the sectors thought leaders, key suppliers, legislators and postal operators.
Mr Jackson added "This will be quite unlike 'other' postal technology gatherings, because we will be personally inviting two top executives from each of the world's Posts to attend free of charge and to meet a number of high ranking representatives from world-class technology organisations such as Microsoft, Oracle, Dell, Hewlett Packard, Cisco and Computer Associates.
This kind of opportunity to understand and share best practice will be certainly be unique and quite possibly one of the largest commercial gatherings of senior global postal executives.
The Conference is host sponsored by Saudi Post, has Patronage from King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and will be opened by Crown Prince Sultan at the Hilton Hotel in Jeddah on 14-15 November 2007.
PosTech 2007 will have two separate elements.
One will deal with global postal technology and the other with specific technology to the Arab League of Nations.
