The TNT –Expatriate Lifestyle Charity open was held at the prestigious Royal Selangor Golf Club on 21st May 2010 and was attended by 80 of the best amateur expatriate golfers, who had a great time playing on one of the best courses in the country.
After a gruelling game, which featured a broken driver and many a missing ball! There emerged the best expatriate amateur golfer in Malaysia, Mr. Murray Campbell , who shot a 78 Gross. He was the winner of a great trophy and a holiday at the Anahita Report , Mauritius, courtesy of Mauritius Airlines.
All the proceeds that came from this tournament were presented to TNT and Expatriate Lifestyle’s charities of choice: the Rumah Nur Salam, Precious Children’s’ Home and Islami Taufiq Foundation.
The tournament gave 20 children the opportunity to visit the golf club – all the while, playing games, partaking in a few golf lessons and had a great lunch.
The children also designed three beautiful collages as a thank you for this special day. To top off the day in style, an extraordinary total of RM30,000 was gifted to the three homes in order to improve and enhance these children’s lives.
Empowered by the success of their first tournament, Mr. Gerry Power (MD of TNT Express Worldwide (M) Sdn Bhd) and Mr. Graham Paling (MD of Mongoose Publishing – publishers of Expatriate Lifestyle magazine) are already looking to the future with the advent of a second charity open: ‘Where else can you find the cream of amateur expatriate golfers, playing on a first-class course, winnng some amazing prizes and help deserving charities , all at the same time?”
All this wouldn’t have been possible without the aid of the sponsors and we would like to heartily thank the efforts of the Royal Selangor Golf Club, Air Mauritius & Anahita – The Resort, Callaway Golf Malaysia, Rasa Ria Resort, Titoni, Bio Therm, Ralph Lauren, City Golf, Bang & Olufsen, Sunway City Bhd, Transylvania Wines, Golf Vacations, City Golf, Hot-Can, Danzka Marketing (Shiraz Wine), Jaeger LeCoultre and Tumasek Pewter.

About The Charities
Rumah Nur Salam provides a safe and healthy environment to all the children in the Chow Kit area. Over 400 children are currently enrolled at Rumah Nur Salam. Each day about 50 to 100 children will visit the centre. Most of the children are originally from Chow Kit and come from one-parent homes. Many of them are the children of sex workers or drug addicts.
Precious Children’s Home currently houses 32 children ranging from 4 to 18 years old. They are housed at 2 separate homes. The main home has 14 kids aged 4 to 12 and there are 18 kids aged 13 to 18 in a second home. The children come from various races and backgrounds. They all attend school, from kindergarten to secondary school. These children are mostly orphans or are from the streets or whose parents are drug addicts, alcoholics, undergoing rehabilitation program or in prison.
The Islami Taufiq Institut has over 100 children in their care. While some of them actually are orphans, a significant part of them belong to families that are simply too poor to be able to sustain their living. Islami Taufiq Institute provides them with education, food and dormitories
