DHL strengthens Vietnam business with new Managing Director for its Global Forwarding operations

Singapore, 18 May, 2010 – DHL, the world’s leading logistics company, today announced the appointment of Adrian Shou as Managing Director of DHL Global Forwarding Vietnam. Adrian, who was acting managing director prior to this appointment, will report to Sam Ang, CEO, Southeast Asia, DHL Global Forwarding.

Amadou Diallo, CEO, DHL Global Forwarding, South Asia Pacific said, “Vietnam is a key market for us - we are pleased to have Adrian take on this role and are confident that he will lead the 150-strong team through the many plans we have for this market, especially for the textile and garment, leather and shoes, electronics and semi-conductor sectors, this year.”

Adrian said of his appointment, “I am very excited about this opportunity to bring together my experience in the region and the vast potential of the Vietnamese market to realize exciting new developments that will consolidate our leadership and enable us to remain the choice logistics provider here.”

Sam Ang, CEO, Southeast Asia, DHL Global Forwarding said, “DHL Global Forwarding has big plans for Vietnam. In 2009, we pledged an investment of US$10 million over five years in Vietnam and we unveiled the “DHL Fashion and Apparel Center for Excellence” in Ho Chi Minh City, the first in Southeast Asia. In recent months, DHL also launched its China-Vietnam Cross-border Trucking Service, connecting major points of origins in China with destinations in Vietnam.”

DHL’s US$10 million investment continues to go towards the expansion of facilities, employee training, upgrading of information systems and the introduction of an enhanced range of services for businesses in Vietnam.

Adrian has previously assumed the roles of Director of Air Freight Operations and Director of Value Added Services at DHL Global Forwarding Singapore. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of London and a Masters degree in Logistics from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
