DHL Supply Chain invests Php40 Million (about US$850,000) in Logistics Center in the Philippines

Four-hectare logistics facility showcases DHL Supply Chain’s Philippines capacity to meet its customers’ business needs

Singapore, 24 November 2009 – DHL, the world’s leading logistics company, today officially opened its four hectare (40,000 square meters) DHL Logistics Center on KM17 West Service Road, Parañaque City in the Philippines. One of the largest DHL Supply Chain facilities in the Philippines, the multi-user facility has been custom-built to suit the needs of key industries, boost DHL’s market leading position through increased operational efficiency and ability to deliver flexible and optimal supply chain solutions to customers.

The new DHL Logistics Center is strategically located along the South Luzon Expressway, the conduit of the country’s Makati Central Business District to the South Luzon export zones and manufacturing hubs.

“As we are moving nearer to our customers, we expect to shorten their transit times as well as boost their time-to-market capabilities. It is by giving our customers the optimal logistics solutions that we can truly contribute to their success,” said Olive Ramos, Country Manager, DHL Supply Chain Philippines.

The Php40 million (approximately US$850,000) multi-user facility caters to the growing business of DHL Supply Chain in the Philippines. DHL Supply Chain will be developing a multi-user bundling or co-packing area within the facility to address the requirements of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and Retail sectors.

The facility will also serve the Technology and Automotive sectors through the spare parts logistics service offering given its central location. The facility is close to the airport for exporters of technology products, close to the manufacturing zones of South Luzon for domestically fabricated parts and has easy access to the business district of Makati and Taguig which has a high concentration of end-users.

“Through our investment in this the new facility, we hope to meet the needs of businesses in the Philippines by offering a wide array of world-class infrastructure and help our customers better manage their supply chains,” said Ms. Ramos.

“The facility is also ideal for healthcare sector customers since it has an area with compartmentalized rooms designed that provides higher security for high-value products and facilitates ease of installation of temperature-controlled rooms for temperature-sensitive items.”

Besides providing features such as temperature and humidity control areas, the new DHL Logistics Center is equipped with advanced inventory management systems, technology and comprehensive security systems and CCTV cameras.

The DHL Logistics Center is also intended to be an ideal work place for the employees of DHL Supply Chain, with the country office being part of the new Logistics Center. The highly-equipped training room, entertainment lounge and sport facilities are all designed to encourage creativity and promote work-life balance.
