CMR Logistics selects Optrak’s vehicle routing software for enterprise-wide operational and strategic planning

Optrak to deliver enhanced visibility and route planning capabilities

Optrak Distribution Software Limited (www.optrak.co.uk) today announced that CMR Logistics, part of the Woodland Group, has selected Optrak’s vehicle routing software for an enterprise-wide deployment.

The third party logistics provider will use Optrak on live operational contracts to improve efficiency and reduce costs. CMR Logistics will also use Optrak within its business development department to assist in the strategic tendering process.
CMR Logistics recognised that investing in a modern vehicle routing system was essential for a fast growing, innovative third party logistics company.

Sean Kirby, Managing Director, CMR Logistics comments: "We carried out an in-depth review of five competing routing systems and Optrak was the clear winner. Their depth of industry expertise was evident from the start and the Optrak team was genuinely passionate about helping us get the maximum benefit from a routing system.

"The wide ranging functionality offered by Optrak was important as we can see immediate opportunities within our existing customer base."
One of the key factors that sets Optrak apart is the ability to tailor the software to match even the most challenging routing problem.

Additionally, the user environment is customised according to each individual customer’s specific requirements. This includes the creation of a series of shortcuts which automate and simplify each step of the routing process.

CMR Logistics is already working with the Optrak team on the first customer implementation for a waste contract. CMR Logistics is undertaking a wide ranging review of the customer’s supply chain and Optrak’s unique ability to handle highly complex packing and loading requirements will be critical to the success of this project.
Kirby concluded: "Optrak’s superior routing software has become a key part of our tendering process. It has saved us a considerable amount of time as we no longer have to manually process client data in spreadsheets and databases. Optrak gives us the ability to conduct quick and powerful strategic analyses into how to best meet the transport operations for any given client using accurate real world data."

Tim Pigden, Managing Director of Optrak, commented: “CMR Logistics is well known in the market for its ability to provide high levels of service to companies with very complex transportation and routing requirements.

"By implementing Optrak for its clients, CMR Logistics will help them achieve more efficient and effective routing and ultimately provide a better service to the end customer.”
In addition to daily scheduling, Optrak can also be used for strategic modelling to help design efficient supply chain transport networks. It can take into account a wide number of factors such as depot and customer locations, fleet size and mix, product and vehicle constraints, etc.

Optrak enables the user to quickly test and validate various scenarios, for example, to establish the optimum fleet mix for a given set of customers, determine where is the best location for a depot or outbase, what orders could be more effectively delivered by an external carrier, and many more.
