BA World Cargo has increased the number of shorthaul freighter services it runs by 40 percent following a multi-million pound investment that demonstrates the BA board's commitment to the cargo industry. From the end of January 2007, the new schedule will deliver 45 weekly wide-body services (previously 32 services) across 11 European destinations, putting Milan and Frankfurt hubs firmly at the heart of BA World Cargo's European offering and continuing the carrier's relationship with operating partner, DHL.
BA World Cargo is adding five services into and one service from Milan bringing the total number of rotations to six per week. Rome is opened up as a new freighter route with four services per week.
The carrier will also add one rotation to the Frankfurt service, bringing the total to six per week. Stockholm and Paris schedules also increase from one to two per week.
Chris Bosworth, general manager commercial development, BA World Cargo comments, "The shorthaul freighter programme has gone from strength to strength since its inception in October 2003. This significant investment will not only benefit our customers in Europe, but also customers throughout our global network who will have additional options for shipping freight into and out of Europe. Traffic to and from Italy in particular has grown rapidly and in addition to Frankfurt, Milan now becomes a key hub for BA World Cargo.
"This improved schedule complements our longhaul freighter network, bellyhold operations and trucking service and reflects our commitment to growing our global network and investing in our business to meet the changing needs of our customers."
