Singapore – September 10, 2009 – DHL, the world’s leading logistics company, today announced a new contract with Carestream Health, Inc., an international leader in healthcare IT solutions, dental and molecular imaging systems, x-ray systems and digital radiography equipment.
DHL is now Carestream Health’s logistics provider for outbound air freight in Asia Pacific, and will supply its business partners and manufacturing centers across the region with air freight services. The contract, which entails the management of over five million kilograms of volume, more than 90 percent of Carestream’s global air freight volume, will be handled by DHL Global Forwarding.
Some of the major factors contributing to the win were DHL’s comprehensive network infrastructure and ability to offer complete end-to-end, scalable solutions. Due to the nature of Carestream Health’s business, expertise in the complex medical imaging and equipment technology sector was also critical. Global Customer Solutions (GCS), the dedicated customer management organization for DHL’s top global customers, leveraged its deep knowledge of Carestream Health’s business requirements and industry expertise to design and deploy a customized solution.
“We are confident in DHL’s ability to help us deliver on schedule for our customers, a critical factor in the health-focused technology sector,” said Leo Nussenbaum, Global Sourcing Manager, Carestream Health. “DHL’s advanced logistics solutions and unique customer service structure will streamline and optimize our transport processes.”
“We are pleased to say that the contract with Carestream Health was built on our solid, long-standing relationship and ability to provide an integrated approach through strategic consultation,” said Robert M. Krautheim, President, DHL Global Customer Solutions, Technology, Americas. “Our goal is to do more with less in this present climate; we streamline processes and deliver sustainable solutions that enhance our customer’s competitive advantage.”
The new Carestream Health contract comes on the back of other wins for DHL in Asia Pacific, including a new partnership with NCR Corporation, a global technology company. DHL Supply Chain, the contract logistics division of DHL, will manage a new 15,000 sq feet service parts hub in Hong Kong and provide express and freight transportation throughout the region to support a network of service parts warehouses for NCR.
