FedEx Delivers Solar Cookers to Thailand - Express Transportation Company Arranges Transport to Aid Help without Frontiers Organization

FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, has transported solar cookers from Munich to North Thailand and thus supported the aid organization Help without Frontiers (Helfen ohne Grenzen e.V.). FedEx carried the cookers in an 850 kilogramme case by air and road from Bangkok to Chiang Mai in the north of Thailand. From there the cookers will be distributed by Help without Frontiers to civil war refugees from Myanmar in the border region between Thailand and Myanmar.

Among other places the cookers will be used in a school cafeteria in Lois Kaw Wan. The equipment was donated by EG Solar, a development aid project of the public vocational school in Altötting, Bavaria. By using the solar cookers, hot meals can be prepared without firewood. By this means the inhabitants of the border area can avoid dangerous trips through the mountain area for collecting wood and it also reduces the deforestation.

In cooperation with organizations such as the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army and Heart to Heart International, FedEx has been helping around the world, for example with transport services and logistical support for many years. Amongst others FedEx delivered medicine to earthquake victims in China last year.
