Eddie Zielnik, winner of the American Moving and Storage Association’s 2007 Super Van Operator Lifetime Achievement Award understands what it means to “WOW” customers, fellow co-workers and nearly everyone he meets. Zielnik, known as “Poppa” by most people, has worked for The Suddath Companies for more than 20 years and has 35 years of industry experience. He is described by many as personable, intelligent, practical and precise.
This coveted award is the highest honor a van operator can receive. It recognizes drivers who provide safe, reliable and customer-oriented household goods transportation. Judging criteria include miles driven, accidents, lifetime driving record, time out of service, financial responsibility, community involvement, customer service, driving awards and outside interests and activities.
“Eddie is a leader and is well and dear to everyone’s heart. He is honest, has integrity and really cares about our customers. Undoubtedly, Eddie is more than deserving of this award,” said Paul Gleason, Vice President of Operations.
Customers who have had a chance to work with Zielnik during their move consistently comment on his excellent communication skills and ability to come up with a workable solution. Not only is his customer feedback astounding, but his overall performance proves it, Gleason said.
Zielnik’s excellence in performance is affirmed by the Van Operator Performance Report Data and includes a claims liability of less than 15 percent and an average quality score of 9.85 out of 10!
President of Suddath Relocation Systems, Michael E. Demont, said “It’s almost impossible to count how many times people have requested Eddie for their move because of his great attitude, wisdom and leadership. His accolades are endless and not only is this an honor for Eddie and his family but it’s also a huge honor for all of Suddath.
After years of being on the road and winning this high honor, Zielnik decided to go out on top and retire from the road to spend more time with his family. He will still be employed by Suddath, but will explore other opportunities in one of Suddath’s offices.
Zielnik said, “It’s been 35 years now and after all the missed birthdays, anniversaries and holidays, the freezing winters, hot summers and sleepless nights, it is time…time to go home!”
As his final goodbye to the road, Zielnik summed up his 35 years as a van operator by imitating his favorite commercial.
“SHIPMENTS HANDLED-OVER 2,500
TONNAGE-OVER 12,500 TONS
MILES DRIVEN-OVER 2,000,000
Handshakes, smiles, hugs, and an occasional kiss on the check-PRICELESS,” he said with a grin.
