The new web application (e-floralink) in the market allows the floral industry to make agile the export processes, from Latin-American countries to USA, by streamlining all paperwork and requirements within the logistics, transportation and supply chain.

United Business Links presented to the Colombian Floral Industry the application e-floralink, an integration web application that standardizes the processes of documentation for the industry exports.

Using a unique invoice format as a central information database, the application will populate all documentation required within the Supply Chain, including airlines, cargo agencies, growers, government (local foreign), freight forwarders, inland freight and importers.

It generates shipping documentation such as; labels (TEXT- BARCODE & RFID) to uniquely identify all the pieces involved, Phitosanitary Certificates demanded by ICA (Instituto Colombiano Agropecuario), Antinarcotics Responsibility Letters that the Police demands, as well as airline documents MAWB (Master Airway Bill) / HWAB (House Airway Bill).

In addition, e-floralink generates all additional documents that the airlines must present to the Department of Agriculture of the United States (USDA) and to the Department of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), which dramatically improves the times taken today to clear and inspect the product, which has reached an all time high mark of 24 hours.

According to United Business Links spokesmen, generation of such documentation, requires today in many cases to be keyed-in several times. By eliminating these double entries, and standardizing the processes, it will improve dramatically the logistic conditions involved in the transportation and handling of fresh cut flowers, achieving savings not only in manual labor, but in time required to produce information and accuracy on the resulting information.

By having a unique label for each piece, e-floralink can track and trace each single piece throughout the supply chain, and report any discrepancies on quantities handled and changed within the process. It also reports any interception done as a result of USDA inspections.

Until know, this application has been tested with three (3) growers / exporters of flowers, four (4) Cargo Agencies, one (1) airline, Colombian Antinarcotics police and ICA. It has been also followed by USDA and CBP.
