While the worldwide economic crisis is seemingly strangulating trade, Sharjah Airport International has found India an oasis of growth opportunities. Sharjah Airport International has once again become a Platinum Sponsor for the AIR CARGO INDIA 2010, an international event being organized by The STAT Trade Times in every two years. Sharjah Airport International was a Platinum Sponsor in the earlier edition of the event which took place in early 2008.
That Sharjah Airport International has once again opted for enlisting themselves as a Platinum Sponsor for this event speaks volumes not only of the strength of Indian market and the opportunities available, but also of the effectiveness of the medium of this event to create new trade relations and foster the existing ones.
However, the decision of Sharjah Airport International to sponsor the event is in consistence with the ever increasing trade between the Emirate of Sharjah and India. According to a data released by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India in June 2008, India has emerged as the top trade partner of the Emirate of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with bilateral trade valued at $ 2 billion in 2007, much ahead of Japan and China.
Sharjah is going on full steam to promote Indian Trade and business in the Middle Eastern and North African markets. A new Indian Trade and Exhibition centre is expected to come up in Sharjah for this purpose with the approval from India’s Ministry of commerce.
