More than 115 logistics experts from 55 countries around the world will sample the delights of Aarhus in Denmark as they mix business with some sightseeing during their annual conference from August 27-31, 2008.
Attendees are travelling from throughout Europe and from Africa, Asia, South America, Middle East, Australia and the United States to attend the Project Professionals Group (PPG) conference at the Helnan Marselis Hotel.
PPG specialises in the transportation of oversize, heavy-lift freight and is the largest dedicated project forwarding network in the world with 116 representative locations in 86 countries.
PPG general manager Kevin Stephens, who will be travelling from Australia, said the conference included 13 international guest speakers representing sponsors and industry partners. However, he said an important part of the event was the networking opportunities for attendees.
“Members of the Project Professionals Group are based around the world and the annual conference allows them a very cost effective way to have face-to-face meetings that generate new business opportunities,” Mr Stephens said.
“The conference off-site activities in Aarhus are a very important part of building and strengthening business links and relationships.”
“The PPG is looking forward to visiting Aarhus and experiencing the hospitality and activities that this region offers.”
Mr Stephens said his organization had been very fortunate in having the local support of Denmark member DSV Air & Sea A/S Project Division, one of Europe’s leading project forwarding and logistics companies, in helping to organize the conference.
A special event would be attending the official opening of Festival Week by the Queen of Denmark, Queen Margrethe II, in the Aarhus Concert Hall on Friday evening, August 29. Earlier in the day the Lord Mayor of Aarhus will host an official reception for delegates at the Town Hall.
The group will also be attending Ship Ohoj an industry event sponsored by DSV Air & Sea A/S, Project Division at the Port of Aarhus, that attracts 1000 participants, mainly from the shipping community.
Other activities included tours of the Old Town, botanical gardens and Aros Museum.
Conference presenters include representatives from DSV Air & Sea A/S Project Division, Rickmers-Linie GmbH, Beluga Chartering GmbH, Ruslan International, Professional Logistics Group Inc., TransGroup, SAL, Siemens, Combi Lift, Port of Arhus, Port of Corpus Christi, USA, Chipolbrok Gdynia and Delacour Marine Lawyers.
