Tideworks Certified as Automated Manifest System Service Center

Tideworks Technology®, Inc., a leading provider of full-service terminal management and planning solutions, today announced it has been certified as an authorized Sea Automated Manifest System (AMS) Service Center by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (U.S. CBP).

Tideworks Technology®, Inc., a leading provider of full-service terminal management and planning solutions, today announced it has been certified as an authorized Sea Automated Manifest System (AMS) Service Center by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (U.S. CBP).

The successful completion of the U.S. CBP Automated Commercial System (ACS) testing phase qualifies Tideworks to begin offering its data processing services – known as ediPremier – to interface with the trade community.

Trading partners that utilize Tideworks’ ediPremier product and data services will be able to take advantage of Tideworks’ direct communication link connecting the customer’s data and the U.S. CBP’s AMS system, thereby allowing them to automate manifests and amendments, in-bond notifications, conveyance updates, permit to transfer requests, transmission acceptance and/or rejection messages and bill of landing status notifications.

Sea AMS is available to carriers, secondary notify parties, port authorities and service centers. Using a unique bill of lading number, manifest data can be transmitted electronically for all cargo destined for the United States prior to vessel arrival. This allows customs an opportunity to review the submitted documentation and determine, in advance, whether the merchandise merits examination or whether to release it immediately upon arrival. The carrier, upon receiving a provisional release from customs, is able to make decisions on staging cargo, and the importer can arrange for examination, release and further distribution of the merchandise. All of this can be accomplished before the merchandise actually arrives.

Prior to its certification as a Sea AMS Service Center, Tideworks has served as a secondary notify party to many of its terminal customers and the carriers calling those terminals. Tideworks has a long-standing relationship with U.S. Customs dating back more than 20 years and, in fact, is one of its largest Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) trading partners. Over the years, customers have come to rely on Tideworks’ EDI services to help streamline the flow of cargo documentation with U.S. CBP.

“We are very pleased with the function and capabilities of Tideworks’ electronic data processing services,” said Hilda Torres, customer service manager, Port of Miami Terminal Operating Company (POMTOC). “Tideworks’ EDI services help POMTOC to exchange data seamlessly with its customers and with customs, which in turn allows us to keep cargo moving safely and efficiently.”

“Tideworks is proud to have received certification from the U.S. CBP,” said Michael Schwank, president, Tideworks. “We look forward to introducing our newest offering, ediPremier, to our customers and continuing to demonstrate Tideworks’ ability to deliver cost-effective solutions that are flexible, scalable and meet the needs of terminals of all sizes.”
