Port of Miami Terminal Operating Company (POMTOC) Implements Tideworks’ GateVision

Gate Operating System Improves Efficiency and Security at the Gate

Tideworks Technology®, Inc., a leading provider of full-service terminal management and planning solutions, today announced the successful deployment of Tideworks’ gate operating system, GateVision™, at the Port of Miami Terminal Operating Company’s (POMTOC) new gate complex that is expected to process 1,600 gate transactions per day.

POMTOC held a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 20th to inaugurate the facility.

GateVision benefits POMTOC’s operations through streamlining gate processing and improving overall safety and security. GateVision effectively integrates three key components of the gate transaction – voice communication, video information, and the terminal operating system – into a single, intuitive user interface.

Additional features include driver face identification cameras built into the lane kiosks for heightened security, and four “reversible lanes.” This gives POMTOC added flexibility in its gate operations, providing as many as twelve inbound lanes during peak inbound traffic periods, and as many as eight outbound lanes when needed.

The deployment of GateVision further leverages the benefits of other Tideworks products that POMTOC has been using successfully since 2003, including Tideworks’ Mainsail Terminal Management System®, Spinnaker Planning Management System®, and Forecast™.

“The installation of GateVision gives us the opportunity to make truly significant improvements in gate processing efficiency and speed by enabling staff to easily collect container numbers, license plates, and other vital pieces of information that are key to maintaining the highest levels of security,” said John Ballestero, general manager, POMTOC. “We are very pleased with the implementation and as we officially inaugurate the facility, we are happy to report the benefits of the GateVision system are already being experienced.”

“Tideworks is honored to have been selected for this project which further strengthens the partnership that we have developed over the years with POMTOC,” said Michael Schwank, president, Tideworks. “The deployment of GateVision at the new gate facility at POMTOC was a natural step to ensuring that overall safety and efficiency is continually improved.”

The POMTOC deployment of GateVision marks the tenth implementation of GateVision for Tideworks, a leader in the creation and implementation of “eGate” solutions, and the second in South Florida. Dedicated to serving the region, Tideworks currently has eight customers in Florida, four in the Miami/Port Everglades area.
