Starting in late October, Royal Jordanian Airlines (RJA) will add a weekly freighter service to London Stansted Airport. This flight will supplement the current weekly freighter operation into London Heathrow. President/CEO Samer Majali commented, “We are delighted to expand our air freight operations to the United Kingdom. This new service is a key component of our efforts to support Jordanian exports to the United Kingdom and Continental Europe.”
The new flight will serve Stansted on Wednesday mornings, providing Jordanian exporters with convenient trucking options for all of Europe. Royal Jordanian also operates a daily wide-bodied passenger flight to London Heathrow, which provides high frequency capacity for lower-deck freight.
Geoffrey Weston, Vice President - Cargo, added, “The UK and Europe are important and growing markets for us. Our Jordanian customers have been clear that they want more options for exports. Our cargo volumes have increased strongly since last year and we are keen to connect the Levant with the United Kingdom.”
Royal Jordanian Cargo is currently investing heavily in new infrastructure at Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA). The first phase of this project, the largest investment at the facility in over twenty years, is due to be completed in early 2007.
