Rhenus Gears Up with John Deere in New Belgian Production Hub

In a move signifying both expansion and collaboration, logistics giant Rhenus Automotive and agricultural machinery leader John Deere have officially opened their doors at a brand-new logistics and production center in Genk, Belgium. This state-of-the-art facility marks a significant step for both companies, promising increased efficiency, job creation, and a boost to the local economy.

John Deere, renowned for its iconic green tractors and agricultural equipment, is strengthening its European presence with this strategic location. The Genk center will primarily focus on manufacturing machinery for the turf sector, catering to the ever-growing demand for high-quality lawn and garden care solutions.

But John Deere isn't going it alone. Rhenus Automotive, a powerhouse in logistics expertise, will be their valued partner, providing comprehensive logistics and assembly services. This includes managing incoming goods, exporting finished machines, and handling complex assembly tasks.

"The combination of Rhenus' expertise in both logistics and assembly, along with their ability to handle everything under one roof, was a major factor in our decision to partner with them," explains Jörn Weber, Manager Asset Management at John Deere. "The new site's excellent transport connections to major ports like Antwerp and Rotterdam further sweeten the deal, allowing us to efficiently reach our customers across Europe."

The Genk facility boasts a spacious 30,000 square meters, dedicated to production, storage, and distribution. An additional 10,000 square meters of outdoor storage space provides even greater flexibility. But it's not just about scale; both Rhenus and John Deere have prioritized employee well-being, implementing ergonomically designed assembly lines and comfortable working areas.

This collaboration isn't just about bricks and mortar – it's about jobs. The new center is expected to create a significant 70 new positions, injecting fresh energy into the local workforce.

"We're excited about the opportunities this new site presents," says Bob Schreurs, Managing Director at Rhenus Automotive Belgium. "By combining our expertise with John Deere's established brand, we're confident we can create a production hub that thrives, not only for our companies, but for the entire Genk community."

The official opening ceremony on December 7th marked a momentous occasion, symbolizing the strong partnership between Rhenus and John Deere. With its focus on innovation, efficiency, and job creation, the Genk center promises to be a game-changer for both companies, propelling them towards a greener and more productive future.
