Lufthansa Cargo Starts Construction of New Frankfurt Hub

Lufthansa Cargo is investing around 500 million euros in the construction and modernization of Cargo City North at Frankfurt Airport. The project, which is Lufthansa Group's largest construction project, will be carried out in partnership with Ed. Züblin AG and is expected to be completed by 2030.

The new hub will feature a 40-meter-high high-bay warehouse, an automated transport system, and new office buildings. The existing buildings and warehouses of the Lufthansa Cargo Center will also be upgraded and modernized.

The project is expected to improve turnaround times and increase efficiency at Lufthansa Cargo's central location. It will also mean faster handling speeds, easier transport processes, and an improvement in service quality for Lufthansa Cargo's customers.

The first parts of the automated transport system and the construction of the first two building modules are expected to be completed between 2023 and 2027.

Lufthansa Cargo is committed to sustainability and the new hub will be built to the highest environmental standards. The company is also investing in new technologies to reduce its carbon footprint.

The new hub is a major investment in the future of Lufthansa Cargo and will help to ensure that the company remains a leader in the global air cargo market.
