Korean Air Cargo Launches Flight to Moscow
Beginning January 27th, Korean Air will service regular cargo flights to Moscow.
Korean Air adjusted the schedule of the existing Incheon ~ Frankfurt cargo route, making a stop at Moscow on the Incheon-outbound segment every Saturday. A Boeing 747-400 freighter will be used on this route.
Due to the high tariffs imposed by the Russian government, most of the cargo headed to Russia was sent in via Northern Europe up to now. But recently the tariffs were greatly lowered in a move by the Russian administration to join the World Trade Organization in 2007, and the direct cargo flow to Russia is anticipated to increase. Cellular phones, electronic devices and textiles are the major export items to Russia.
Korean Air currently operates 21 freighters and has cargo flights to 46 cities in 27 countries around the world.
