Monika Ribar takes over as CEO with an extended Executive Board

Monika Ribar (47) has officially taken over as CEO of the Panalpina Group, the global transport and logistics company. A decision to simultaneously extend and strengthen the Executive Board was taken yesterday by the Board of Directors.

Jürg Honegger (42) has been appointed as the new CFO. He officially takes office on 1 November 2006. Jürg Honegger has extensive experience as well as a solid and broad competence as former Group CFO of the Volcafe Group, one of the leading coffee trading companies. “His previous activities covered a large geographical area including organizations in regions which are also strategically important for Panalpina”, stated Monika Ribar.

Jörg Eggenberger (45) in his position as Chief Operations Officer takes responsibility for the Group’s operational business processes, quality assurance and productivity as well as air- and ocean freight procurement. His current marketing and sales responsibilities will be handed over to John Klompers (42), who has been appointed as Chief Marketing & Sales Officer. This new Executive Board position includes the responsibility for global marketing and sales, global account management and growth in the Group’s key industries oil and gas, hi-tech, automotive, health care, retail and fashion as well as the further development of Panalpina’s supply chain management products.

Due to the promotion of John Klompers to Executive Board level, his current position as Regional CEO for Europe will be taken over by Sandro Knecht, the current Managing Director of UK/Ireland.

“The appointment of John Klompers underlines the Group’s customer focus and is a clear indication of our ambitious growth strategy”, commented Monika Ribar.

The six Regional CEOs will report directly to Monika Ribar with immediate effect.

The Executive Board is further extended by the nomination of the Corporate Secretary Christoph Hess (51). Amongst others his areas of responsibility include Group Legal Services and Corporate Communications.

Roland Wider (47) continues to hold the position of Chief Administrative Officer and is directly responsible for Information Technology and Human Resources.
