Eddie Stobart Chairman Wins Prestigious Awards

Andrew Tinkler, Chairman of both Eddie Stobart Group Ltd and WA Developments International Ltd, was named not only Cumbria Director of the Year but also the North West Director of the Year at the Institute of Directors, Director of the Year Awards on 14th September 2006.

In excess of 600 people attended the prestigious ceremony hosted by Fiona Bruce (BBC News and Crimewatch presenter) at the City of Manchester Stadium.

After leaving school at 16, Andrew started off in business with £500. Today he is in charge of WA Developments International of Appleby, which has a £200m annual turnover, 2,480 employees and is involved in transport, logistics, civil engineering, property and retail. Over the past 12 months, Andrew has led the turnaround in fortunes of Eddie Stobart Ltd and acquired Carlisle Airport which he plans to develop into an international passenger and freight terminal.
