Effects of Tropical Storm Arthur
Big Creek Port in Belize adversely affected by Tropical Storms Alma and Arthur
The 2008 Hurricane season opened early this year, and Belize was hit quite hard by the two storms which developed over the country from the 30th of May to the 2nd of June.
The Kendall Bridge, which links the Big Creek port with the rest of the country has been completely destroyed, isolating Big Creek from the rest of the country. Currently, no container traffic can get into or out of Big Creek by road. All containers in the port now are in effect stranded until a solution is found.
Belize City port is in operation, but overland container traffic to the southern districts are delayed by poor road conditions.
An update when the Kendall Bridge is rebuilt will be published.
