FAMOUS PACIFIC SHIPPING HELPS ORPHANAGE IN MAURITIUS
Big-hearted members of Famous Pacific Shipping (FPS), the Asia-based NVOCC and freight services supplier, dug deep into their pockets to bring happiness to a group of orphaned children.
A collection taken among delegates at the company’s recent international conference held in Mauritius, plus a further donation from local affiliate Somatrans Sdv, enabled the company to present a television and DVD player to the Crèche du Coeur Immaculé de Marie (The Orphanage of the Immaculate Heart of Mary), in Quatre Bornes, Mauritius.
This is the second year in a row that delegates have donated money to help the needy at this annual gathering.
“Though Mauritius is a dream holiday destination for most people, we at FPS acknowledge that for some, with nothing to their name, it can be anything but a paradise. We are humbled by the knowledge that there are those on this island that work to repair the hurt and disadvantaged to bring them some comfort and support,” says Iskandar Zulkarnain, spokesman for the FPS Group’s Executive Committee.
The orphanage offers shelter and love to 42 children at present, ranging from newly-born to five years of age. The four Sisters who, with a staff of 18, run the orphanage will use the new equipment to help educate the children, as well as provide them with a source of entertainment.
Sister M. Ecclesia Madeleine Antou of the orphanage says: “I am very grateful for this gift of a TV set and DVD player and would also like to extend our sincere thanks to all that have contributed to this generous donation.”
