Chennai Trade Surcharge (via Colombo)

IPBCC Member Lines wish to advise their customers that feeder operators serving the port of Chennai via Colombo have announced that, as a result of unacceptable trading circumstances, they will implement a Trade Surcharge of USD 100/teu for all containers moving to/from Chennai, with effect from Friday 7th December 2007.

Member Lines have no alternative other than to pass this charge directly onto their customers, and will therefore introduce a Conference “Trade Surcharge" of USD 100/teu.

Implementation of the surcharge will be as follows:

Westbound - All feeder sailings ex Chennai (bills of lading dated on or after Friday 7th December 2007).

Eastbound - All mainline departures ex European ports (bills of lading dated on or after Friday 7th December 2007).

Member Lines will continue to monitor the situation closely and will keep their customers informed of any future developments.
